Rachel Lankester

Ageism Disruptor, Author, Midlife Mentor, Podcast Host

Rachel Lankester is the founder of Magnificent Midlife, an online platform celebrating and empowering women 40+.  She's passionate about changing how society perceives women in midlife and beyond, and also how we view ourselves. She's on a mission to disrupt negative ageist and sexist stereotypes about older women, menopause and aging.

After an early menopause at 41, followed by a period of soul-searching as she adjusted to this diagnosis, she scratched her own itch and created what she wasn't able to find to help her cope. The Magnificent Midlife world includes a book, Magnificent Midlife: Transform Your Middle Years, Menopause and Beyond, midlife mentoring, an online membership, educational resources and an inspiring podcast to help midlife women refresh, re-energize and recalibrate.

It also includes The Mutton Club online magazine for women 40+ which is where it all started!

Rachel's midlife reinvention came after a long and successful career in financial communications which took her all over the world, including 3 years working in New York and as communications manager for a FTSE 100 company.  She has an MBA from Imperial College, London and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, as well as reasonable French.

Rachel is available for media opportunities, talks, expert comment, event panels, interviews and features on:

The Book

In this life-changing book, Rachel unpicks the accepted status quo and negative stereotypes associated with women’s midlife and aging. She offers us a radical research-based rebranding of midlife and menopause, highlighting the possibilities inherent in this transformational time in a woman’s life.

Far from menopause being the beginning of the end, it can be an exciting catalyst for a more fulfilling next chapter. Whether you’re perimenopausal or post menopause, or you just want to understand what women face, this book will challenge you to think differently about aging, and what midlife and menopause represent. Be prepared not scared!

A must read for all Midlife and menopausal women

Rachel has compiled a wonderfully informative read here. I have listened to her amazing podcast series Magnificent Midlife where she is up for challenging the old stories associated with this time in women's lives. For too long the knowledge base around menopause has been sorely lacking. It is great to have another book spotlight Midlife Women's wellbeing. We are indeed a new generation of Midlife women. A highly recommended read.

Speaker Reviews

Alice Cornell, Director of Email Deliverability

Rachel delivered an excellent workshop on menopause to the Change.org team that was engaging and thought-provoking and has prompted a great deal of discussion within the organisation - just what we were hoping for!  Some of the feedback following the call "It is so important to know this stuff. No one TELLS you" and "this was incredibly empowering".  Thank you Rachel!

Claire Drakeford

Rachel delivered an incredibly powerful session on the menopause in our workplace. Her unabashed delivery and natural humour allowed for full and frank discussion of all aspects of the menopause. She turned the idea of struggling with the menopause on its head and introduced the idea of female empowerment during midlife and beyond. Rachel provided us with numerous tips and resources to help rebalance hormonal fluctuations and regain control of our bodies.
